02 — Founding
"The lack of care by large skincare companies to produce a truly high-quality but also truly safe product was astounding. I chose to change that."
Tamaro's Skin Care had humble beginnings — started by an 18-year-old high school graduate in Virginia, mixing formulas in his girlfriend's kitchen. The goal was never to build a massive brand or chase profit. It was to fill a real gap: an all-natural, genuinely healing skincare line.
What drove it was frustration. Scanning the ingredient lists of major skincare brands revealed a troubling pattern — emulsifiers, artificial dyes, harmful fragrances, endocrine disruptors, even formaldehyde. The indifference to customer safety was striking.
So we started from scratch. Shea butter. Coconut oil. Sweet almond oil. Vitamin E. A small group of early customers tried the first batches and loved them. Many became repeat buyers. That's when we realized this could be something real.
As we learned more, we made a crucial distinction: most moisturizers just help with dryness temporarily. We wanted to actually fix it. Ingredients like aloe vera and vitamin E don't just soothe — they repair the skin barrier and prevent dryness from recurring. That became our commitment: healing, not just helping.
